How will the world change after the pandemic?

To think the world will not change at all after this pandemic is ridiculous. However, the extent that the world will change too is still a mystery. After every catastrophic event, humans adjust their behavior as they learn from their experiences and try to better prepare themselves for next time. Here are some ways I think the world will change:

One of the biggest lessons that humans need to learn is that the way they impact their environment is extremely important. From the clear rivers in Italy to the clear skies in China, humans should be able to clearly see the negative impact they have on the Earth and how it heals itself. It's hard to imagine things without seeing them and now that countries have seen themselves without pollution, they should work to change policies. Furthermore, if they do not, I believe that these viruses will get worse. Not only will human immune systems get weaker due to bad environmental conditions and air quality, but the chances of contracting viruses from foreign substances will become easier.

For everyone that goes to work on the subway or some sort of public transportation, I imagine that it would be extremely weird for them to finally use them again. I would also expect them to express extreme caution for at least a couple of months and wear masks/gloves. Furthermore, maybe humans will continue to practice social distancing in the public but at a lesser extent. Instead of closely packing at concerts and other venues, maybe they'll distribute out more.

Hopefully common hygiene awareness will increase. Simple practices like washing your hands and using hand sanitizers will hopefully increase because, although the coronavirus might disappear, there are still a ton of other sicknesses. Who knows, maybe practices such as shaking hands will become rare and elbow bumps will become more common.

I also hope the world has realized that they are one big team instead of many smaller teams when it comes to disasters. During this whole pandemic, countries were too busy blaming each other and too focused on themselves instead of teaming up and trying to fight this virus in an efficient matter. Furthermore, open communication and transparency is vital in this globalized world. China should have been more open about the virus in the beginning so countries could've acted more appropriately. If, in the beginning, the USA had started working with China and Europe instead of being to busy imposing travel bans, this pandemic could have been curved. Of course the coronavirus would've still hit the USA but it would've been much different than the condition right now.

During these times, research and development is extremely important and is the only way to combat this problem. Hopefully, first world countries have realized that they need to invest more heavily into the medical field and work together to advance science. If the best researchers in the world came together instead of competing with each other, the coronavirus cure could have possibly been found right now.

Lastly, I feel like the family complex has definitely changed. Many families that have drifted apart in the last few years, whether it be kids going to college or parents working long hours, have come together during these past few weeks in quarantine. The value of family during these tough times has made an impact on the minds of many. Furthermore, I feel that the idea of humanity has changed. Neighbors have realized that they should take care and help each other. The general population as a whole also learned that they should come together and take care of the old and disadvantaged. Additionally, the value of people working in hospitals and putting their lives on the line is clearly a common theme around the world. Hopefully, this pandemic revitalized lost morals.

How do you think the world will change?
